{"id":3318,"date":"2010-10-31T14:30:56","date_gmt":"2010-10-31T20:30:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/192.185.166.32\/~davidfoster\/?p=3318"},"modified":"2010-10-31T16:20:10","modified_gmt":"2010-10-31T22:20:10","slug":"god-isn%e2%80%99t-some-distant-idea-like-you%e2%80%99ve-been-told-today-the-gathering","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.davidfoster.tv\/god-isn%e2%80%99t-some-distant-idea-like-you%e2%80%99ve-been-told-today-the-gathering\/","title":{"rendered":"God Isn\u2019t Some Distant Idea, Like You\u2019ve Been Told: Today @ The Gathering"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" style=\"margin-left: 10px; margin-right: 10px;\" src=\"http:\/\/i355.photobucket.com\/albums\/r472\/barbaramcgee\/yeaGod2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"153\" height=\"161\" \/>Today @ <a href=\"http:\/\/g3church.com\">The Gathering<\/a> we started a brand new series called <strong>\u201cYea God!\u201d <\/strong> For the next 8 weeks, we\u2019re going to focus on the nature of God: who He is, what He offers, and how we relate to Him in a real world, on a day-to-day basis.<\/p>\n<p>Today we started by reminding people that<strong> just because we hear information at church, at school, and other places, doesn\u2019t mean we learn it.<\/strong> We have to add the practice of the things we hear.\u00a0 Here is the formula:\u00a0 what we hear and put into practice over time, these are the things we learn.\u00a0 The things we learn this way is called wisdom.\u00a0 And <strong>wisdom is one of the most important things in the entire world to have.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>So we talked about the wisdom that understands that <strong>God relates to us as a Father<\/strong>.\u00a0 This means that God is not remote or removed, that He doesn\u2019t know what\u2019s going on in our lives as a father would.\u00a0 But it also means God is not your buddy.\u00a0 Oftentimes we use familiar language: the man upstairs, the big guy, the big kahuna.\u00a0 None of these are appropriate because <strong>God is your Father.\u00a0 And as such, you owe Him respect and honor.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In today\u2019s talk, we gave practical ways you can relate to God on a personal level, so that your faith becomes more than just theory or something that you were raised in as a child.\u00a0 God offers a relationship: a father-son, father-daughter relationship; the most intimate relationship you can have.\u00a0 All you\u2019ve got to do is reach out by faith and take it.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Today @ The Gathering we started a brand new series called \u201cYea God!\u201d For the next 8 weeks, we\u2019re going to focus on the nature of God: who He is, what He offers, and how we relate to Him in a real world, on a day-to-day basis.
