Ben Roethlisberger, Tiger Woods, and Now Vince Young: Do You See A Pattern Developing?

I was on my way to the Jeff Fisher Charity Softball Game last night, the 10th anniversary of the charity softball game and the 10th anniversary of me opening the whole shindig with prayer. (I’m proud of my “record”)  The news broke that Vince Young had been arrested and given a citation in Dallas for fighting and brawling at 3:00 AM Sunday morning in a strip club.  Ok, Vince, I love you, but that is stupid!

There seems to be an epidemic of high-profile sports figures behaving in a self-destructive, stupid way. Don’t you think?  But let’s be honest, this isn’t reserved just for sports figures.  A lot of men act stupidly.

Why go to a stupid strip club?  Are you that hard-up?  Do you not know how to wow, woo, and win the heart of a woman? Really?  With all the money these men have, they’ve forgotten one thing.  As Spiderman said, “With great power comes great responsibility.”

Men out there, it is time we take responsibility, not assume it, not have it rolled over onto us by others, not peer pressure, not even our family. But because of who we are, what we are, and what we stand for, take responsibility, seize it on ourselves and live up to the expectations of those who look to us for leadership and influence.

To all of the men out there who do stupid things, here is a call.  Man up, brother! Be a man-up man.  What is a man-up man?  A man who takes responsibility, who loves his wife and his family as a top priority, and makes the world a better place.
